At Tots on the Rock Waiheke, children are our primary focus and we recognize that each child is individual and unique. We believe in providing an environment that is secure, caring and nurturing whilst also stimulating. We are committed to an open door policy to give us the best level of interaction with parents and whānau and to encourage a higher level of open and honest communication.
We are a centre that is rich in diversity and believe that all children should have equitable opportunities and differences are embraced. We aim to provide an environment that upholds the treaty of Waitangi and celebrates the biculturalism of Aotearoa and the multiculturalism of the Waiheke community.
Our practice reflects the teachings of Magda Gerber and RIE philosophy and Te Whāariki underpins the basis of our curriculum.
We strive to promote an environment that supports lifelong learning and the acquisition of skills, knowledge and values so each child can become a capable, confident, and socially competent member of the 21st century.
We have a Sustainable ‘Green’ philosophy at Tots, because we feel children at Tots are entitled to the healthiest environment possible, and that we have a social conscience and responsibility to educate our children about the importance of where we live.
We collaborate with children, families and whanau and the wider community of Waiheke where all parties are respected as reciprocal learners and teachers to create a sense of ako: “A Community of Learners.”
